Earlier this offseason, the LSU Football team suffered a nearly tragic moment as Freshman quarterback Colin Hurley was found unresponsive but, breathing after a car accident. After the accident, Hurley returned home to Florida to focus on his recovery from the injuries sustained but, as the family remained private many wondered when if ever Colin Hurley would return to the field.
On Saturday before the LSU Football team took the field for their Open Practice, the team got an uplifting surprise as Colin Hurley was in the locker room with his teammates.
After the Spring Practice concluded, Colin Hurley's family released a statement which was incredible news as Colin Hurley has officially fully recovered from his injuries and will rejoin the team.
It's incredible to see that Colin Hurley is fully recovered, without including the fact that he's going to return to the team, as he's still incredibly young with his entire life ahead of him. Getting Colin Hurley back in the fold will most likely happen this Summer as the Tigers are just wrapping up Spring Practices.
This season, Colin Hurley was a true freshman for the Tigers and has yet to make his first appearance in a game for LSU. Hurley reclassified, and at the time he enrolled at LSU, he was only 16 years old, which is what makes him such an exciting prospect to follow along with in his development. Hurley will most likely serve as LSU's third or fourth string quarterback this season as Garrett Nussmeier and Michael Van Buren are the clear top two in the room.
Getting Colin Hurley back for the 2025-26 season could be very important for the LSU Football team. Brian Kelly has discussed that he plans on using every player in the room to ensure that they don't burn anyone's redshirts while all three will be used in subpackages to help LSU running the football.
