The college football transfer portal is closed for new entries but, as team's look to make additions a few key battles are still taking place. The top uncommitted transfer AJ Haulcy has been the center of attention for the LSU Football team and the Miami Hurricanes. Haulcy took a visit this week to Miami but, LSU's staff has kept the Tigers in contention while Ole Miss has faded away.

As time continues to pass since Haulcy visited Miami, the LSU Tigers only become more of a threat given that Miami rolled out the red carpet with police escorts around the city and dinner with rapper Rick Ross. As LSU keeps the heat on Miami, the Hurricanes may be pivoting turning to their backup plan at the position.

Miami's Jakobe Thomas addition is massive news for LSU

On Thursday Night, the Miami Hurricanes landed Tennessee transfer safety Jakobe Thomas which should be exciting news for the Tigers.

This winter Miami beat LSU out for another top safety transfer Zechariah Poyser who is slated to start next season for the Miami Hurricanes. Given that the Hurricanes now have a pair of clear starting safeties, the LSU Tigers may have the best pitch for AJ Haulcy.

On3 ranks AJ Haulcy as the 13th best player and the 2nd ranked safety to enter the transfer portal since the end of the season making him LSU's biggest addition this year.

The LSU Football team has had a massive need at the safety position for a few years as the Tigers have had abysmal play at the position. AJ Haulcy would be a plug and play free safety for the Tigers filling a clear need with almost guaranteed starting time AJ Haulcy. Adding Haulcy to this defense would be a home run for the LSU Tigers as they'd have no clear hole on the defense heading into 2025.
