The last six weeks have put the LSU Football program in full recruiting mode after the recruiting dead period came to a close at the beginning of March. The LSU Tigers hold the best class in the 2026 recruiting cycle while the staff will start to build the 2027 and 2028 classes as they have more film to evaluate. Tuesday was an especially busy day of news coming out of Baton Rouge as LSU's staff extended several offers to In-State prospects, out of state prospects, and LSU commit Tristen Keys was on the road again.
2026 recruit Hayward Howard Jr picks up an LSU offer
On Tuesday, Edna Karr star cornerback Hayward Howard Jr was on campus for an unofficial visit where he finally was given an offer from the LSU football team. Howard is the best cornerback in the state, ranked by On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings as the 369th ranked player in the class, the 32nd ranked cornerback, and the 11th ranked player out of Louisiana. LSU will get Hayward Howard Jr back on campus for an official visit during the massive June 20th - 22nd recruiting weekend.
LSU offers In-State 2028 Wide Receiver Calvin Ursin
Most of LSU's focus is on the 2026 recruiting class while the staff is also putting a ton of attention into the 2027 recruiting class. LSU has only handed out a handful of offers to the special players in the 2028 recruiting class and on Tuesday, In-State wide receiver Calvin Ursin was offered by LSU's staff. It's still a long ways from when Calvin Ursin will sign with a program but, he now boasts offers from LSU, Florida State, and Texas A&M.
LSU Commit Tristen Keys visits Auburn
When LSU landed a commitment from the Nation's top wide receiver, Tristen Keys it came as a surprise, and all LSU fans had the same feeling, as they knew it's a long road until National Signing Day. In the weeks since commiting to LSU, Tristen Keys has made visits to Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and now Auburn. While LSU fans will want to panic, the thing to remember is that Keys committing was unexpected and while the Tigers will be concerned until pen meets paper, he's still committed to LSU.
LSU offers Florida 3-star DeAnthony Lafayette
As LSU looks to build out this class, the edge rush room is one of the biggest needs as things currently stand. On Tuesday, Kevin Peoples extended an offer to Florida 3-star DeAnthony Lafayette. 24/7 sports is the only recruiting service to grade Lafayette ranking him as the 56th ranked edge rusher in the class and the 54th ranked player out of Florida. Kevin Peoples is one of the best at finding hidden gems and after Lafayette had 17.5 sacks in 11 games as a Junior there's plenty to be interested in.
Elite 2027 recruit Trenton Yancey to visit LSU this weekend
This weekend, the LSU football team will host one of the top wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class as Trenton Yancey makes his way to Baton Rouge. Yancey plays his High School football at Duncanville, a familiar school for LSU fans as it produced LSU running back Caden Durham and former LSU commit Dakorien Moore. All of the 2027 recruits aren't ranked yet but, On3's Industry recruiting rankings tab Yancey as the 114th ranked player in the class, the 13th ranked wide receiver, and the 18th ranked player out of Texas.
