LSU Running Back Caden Durham named to On3's Freshman All American Team
While this season won't result in a National Championship or a College Football Playoff birth, the LSU Football team had a few massive bright spots this season. The brightest of them all however, was the play of True Freshman Running Back Caden Durham.
The Freshman capped off the regular season of his True Freshman season picking up 693 yards rushing on 127 carries averaging 5.5 yards per carry with 6 touchdowns while catching 27 passes for 257 yards averaging 9.5 yards per reception with 2 touchdowns.
For his incredible season, Durham was named to On3's True Freshman All-American Team as an All Purpose player.
The two running backs that got named as the running backs had outstanding seasons rushing but, Durham's numbers as a receiver are the best of the Trio.
Durham came into the season with little to no role behind three veterans but, when John Emery Jr tore his ACL and the Tigers rushing attack struggled he started to get a chance. Against South Carolina, Durham fully introduced himself to the world with a massive performance rushing for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns on 11 carries flipping the game for LSU.
After that game it was clear that Caden Durham was the best back on the team and arguably the most explosive player on the team. The part that makes Caden Durham's season so impressive is that the stats don't tell the whole story as Durham played more than half of the season with a steel plank in his shoe as he dealt with a foot injury.
Heading into the 2025 season, as LSU needs to replace a majority of its offensive line and receiving production, Durham stands out as the piece to build the offense around. After an offseason to recover and an offseason to further develop, it'll be exciting to see what Durham will look like in his second season.
