On Wednesday, the LSU Football program held its 2025 Pro Day bringing executives and Head Coaches from around the NFL to watch LSU’s stars in a Draft showcase. While the scouts in attendance may have come to lay their eyes on stars like Will Campbell, Emery Jones Jr, Zy Alexander, and Bradyn Swinson, they’ll leave Baton Rouge remembering Josh Williams performance.
Coming into the Tigers Pro Day, Josh Williams was seen mostly as an Undrafted Free Agent to a player that may just be brought in for training camp. Leaving LSU’s Junior Day, no one will be surprised if Josh Williams is a Day 3 selection.
Williams wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine so LSU’s pro day was his best chance at impressing NFL Draft analysts. Williams measurements alone are now good enough to be drafted as he posted incredible testing numbers.
Josh Williams’ metrics:
- 40 Yard Dash: 4.45 seconds
- Vertical leap: 42”
- Broad Jump: 10’2”
- Bench Press: 23 reps
Williams 42” vertical would’ve been the second best mark at the NFL combine trailing only South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori. His 40 yard dash time would’ve been the 10th fastest for a running back at the combine.
During his time at LSU, Josh Williams went from a walk on running back to a player that was respected by his teammates and coaches enough to wear the number 18. In his 5 seasons, Williams rushed for 1,493 yards and 17 touchdowns on 314 carries while catching 71 passes for 600 yards and a touchdown.
NFL scouts now see that Josh Williams has the physical traits to match his production at LSU. Add in how capable Josh Williams is as a pass blocker and there will be plenty of NFL teams interested in Williams.
April will show whether or not Williams gets drafted but, if he’s able to go from Walk-On to National Champion to NFL Draft pick, it’d make for an incredible story.
