LSU's Chris Hilton Jr is trending towards returning for his first game this season
Thus far, the LSU Football team hasn't been able to get one of its best playmakers onto the field. This summer, Chris Hilton Jr spent the majority of camp as one of the starting wide receivers and looked poised for a breakout season. The Redshirt Junior suffered a complicated foot injury and has looked like he could return every weekend but, hasn't returned yet.
That could change this weekend as it sounds like Chris Hilton Jr is progressing more than he has with Brian Kelly announcing he was a full participant in practice.
Getting Chris Hilton Jr back this weekend would be massive especially against a tough defense like Texas A&M's. When Hilton returns he'll give this offense an element it has been lacking as he's a true deep threat that can take the top off of a defense. Hilton is the fastest player on the team and his speed will open thing up underneath for Kyren Lacy and Mason Thomas.
Last season, Chris Hilton Jr finished the season with 13 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns averaging 17.3 yards per catch. We got a glimpse into what Hilton's speed paired with Nussmeier's arm could be in the Reliaquest Bowl when Hilton caught a 43-yard pass.
We won't know for certain if Hilton will return or if CJ Daniels will play until Saturday when the final availability report comes out. The positive news for LSU is that Hilton looks the closest he's been to returning while Daniels should play this weekend as well.
