Coming into this weekend, everyone expected that this game between LSU and Ole Miss would be a shootout by both offenses. Instead, the LSU Football team went above and beyond on defense yet it wasn't enough to win this football game. The Tigers held the Rebels to just 23 points and if you were told that earlier in the week, you would've thought the Tigers won with ease. Instead, this game went to overtime where the Tigers

The defense brought Jaxson Dart down for a sack six times, with Bradyn Swinson recording two sacks, Major Burns with 1.5, Whit Weeks with one, and Gio Paez, Da'Shawn Womack, and Greg Penn III all had half of a sack. The Tigers even forced turnovers as Zy Alexander intercepted a pass in the endzone and Major Burns forced a fumble which Dominick McKinley recovered.

When Ole Miss had a chance to put the game away, LSU even held the Rebels to a field goal giving the offense one last chance. Garrett Nussmeier found Aaron Anderson on fourth down to send this game into overtime.

To start overtime, Paris Shand drew a holding penalty and Tiger Stadium gets a tip of the hat drawing a false start call. LSU had two chances at picking the ball off but, let them slip through their fingertips allowing Ole Miss to drill a 57 yard field goal.

The field goal did not matter as Garrett Nussmeier looked where he did all night to his star receiver Kyren Lacy who beat double coverage to give LSU the win.

This was one of Garrett Nussmeier's worst games, the Tigers couldn't run the football and it did not matter as the defense kept them in this all night. Garrett Nussmeier could've been down on himself and could've been gunshy but, he never let the bad game get to him and it led to a Tigers win.

That's why you pay Blake Baker what you did

This offseason, Brian Kelly cleaned house on the defensive coaching staff bringing in Blake Baker as the highest paid defensive coordinator. At times this season, Blake Baker got some blame and rightfully so but, he just called the game of his life. Ole Miss passed for just 284 yards as the Tigers took the big play away the entire night. The Tigers now have a resume building win and will be right in the mix for a bid to the College Football Playoff.
