The energy before the start of the showdown between No. 7 LSU and No. 8 Ole Miss lived up to the hype. Ole Miss fans were ready to let Lane Kiffin and every LSU player hear it, as bad blood from Kiffin's departure has carried into the season. Everyone knew that the atmosphere would be insane, but LSU wasn't afraid to give it back.
As Ole Miss fans on the sideline were able to talk trash, it was only a matter of time before someone put the fans in their place. It turned out that rather than one of the players or Lane Kiffin quieting the crowd, it was former Ole Miss running backs coach Kevin Smith.
Kevin Smith instantly humbled Ole Miss fans with savage quote
Among the people Ole Miss fans should chirp, LSU running backs coach Kevin Smith is near the bottom of the list as he simply followed his bosses to his new job. Instead, Ole Miss fans decided to chirp at Kevin Smith, and he instantly reminded them of how he's brought more elite running backs to Oxford than anyone else.

Ole Miss fans won't want to hear it, but Kevin Smith has produced better running backs than anyone who's come before him. The two best running back seasons of all time at Ole Miss came from Kewan Lacy with 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns, and Quinshon Judkins, who rushed for 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns.
This season, Kewan Lacy hasn't looked nearly as effective as he was last season, and Ole Miss fans should be concerned that Frank Wilson, who constantly underwhelmed at LSU may not be the best pick for the running backs coaching job.
Add in the likes of running backs Jerrion Ealy, Snoop Conner, Henry Parrish Jr., and Ulysses Bentley IV, and Kevin Smith's resume at Ole Miss is undeniable. Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr. always got the most credit as the passing attack got all of the attention, but if not for Kevin Smith's running backs, the offense never would've clicked as well as it did.
The Rebels fans can boo LSU and the former Rebels all they'd like, but the one thing that they can't do is say the coaches "suck" or that they're overrated. The program reached incredible heights thanks to Kiffin and his staff, and to claim the revisionist history that's taken place since their departure is absurd.
