The College Basketball season officially gets underway next week as teams across the country will kick off their chase for the right to cut down the nets in San Antonio. Given we're less than a weak away from tip off, the Naismith Award unveiled its Preseason Watch List including 50 players on the list for the 2024-25 Jersey Mikes Naismith Trophy.

The Naismith Award is given to the Most Outstanding Men's and Women's Basketball player each year. The LSU Basketball programs have had two winners as Seimone Augustus won in 2005 and 2006 while Pete Maravich won in 1970.

While fifty players made the list, the LSU Basketball team didn't have any players make the cut while there are ten SEC players represented. By the time the Naismith Award adds players to its Watchlist, the most likely candidate we'll see added from LSU is Kansas State transfer Cam Carter.

Last season at Kansas State, Carter averaged 14.6 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 30.9% from three. If LSU's exhibition game was any indication for what his role will be for the Tigers, than you can expect Carter will crush those marks.

The LSU Basketball team is going to need a massive year out of Carter in a loaded SEC. The Tigers newest guard plays with a high motor and can do a little bit of everything which will make him the most important piece of this team. There couldn't be a better fit than what Carter does and how Matt McMahon wants this team to play and it'll show when the Tigers take the court.
