In the hours leading up to kick-off between LSU and Houston the Texas Bowl, LSU's offensive line has suffered another tough blow. According to On3, redshirt sophomore Tyree Adams plans to enter the transfer portal. He is still expected to play in the Texas Bowl.

LSU is severely disadvantaged against Houston in one key aspect

Adams came to LSU as a 4-star recruit out of St Augustine High School in New Orleans. He redshirted in 2023 before appearing in 8 games with a pair of starts in 2024. In his first season as LSU's starter at left tackle in 2025, Adams started all 8 games in which he was healthy this season. In his LSU career, he allowed zero sacks in 17 games during his time in Baton Rouge.

LSU's offensive line will look vastly different next season

Adams becomes the 4th LSU offensive lineman to declare plans to enter the transfer portal. He joins 5-star freshman Carius Curne, redshirt freshman Coen Echols, and redshirt sophomore DJ Chester. He is the 13th Tiger to hit the portal overall.

With so many offensive linemen hitting the portal, Lane Kiffin and new offensive line coach Eric Wolford have a lot of work to do in re-shaping LSU's offensive line for 2026. Freshman Solomon Thomas and veteran Braelin Moore are both still slated to return, but much more reinforcements are needed.

The incoming recruiting class includes 4-star OL prospect Brysten Martinez and 3-star OL Ryan Miret. Martinez is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 player in Louisiana and the No. 10 offensive lineman in the country, while Miret is the No. 68 interior offensive lineman in the country. Kiffin flipped him from Ole Miss to LSU shortly after his hiring at LSU.

The Tiger offensive line was severely underwhelming in 2025, and battled injuries all season long. As Kiffin and Wolford work to re-vamp the offensive line, it will be interesting to see how they utilize the portal and who they opt to bring in.
