The LSU Football team is back to roster building after the official end of the 2024 season as the Tigers beat Baylor in the Texas Bowl. In the early portion of the Transfer Portal, LSU was dominant snatching up nearly every player they wanted filling multiple positions of need. The lone position of need that hasn't been addressed is safety.
The Tigers will lose starter Major Burns as he's out of eligibility, starter Sage Ryan who transferred to Ole Miss, and experienced role player Jordan Allen who transferred to Houston. The Tigers played Jardin Gilbert, Javien Toviano, and DaShawn Spears in the Bowl Game but, the Tigers secondary left plenty to be desired.
The Tigers are already looking in the State of Alabama as they'll host Auburn transfer Keionte Scott but, they should also consider looking at Alabama transfer King Mack.
Mack was a highly regarded recruit out of High School as a four-star recruit out of St Thomas Aquinas in Florida ranking as a top 100 recruit and a top 10 safety. After one season at Penn State, Mack transferred to Alabama this season but, as the Tide returned veterans Malachi Moore and DeVonta Smith while adding Keon Sabb, Mack didn't play much this season.
In the ReliaQuest Bowl, Mack was flying around coming up to make some massive hits. When you turn on Mack's limited tape, the thing that stands out the most is his speed as he may have been the fastest player at both of his former schools.
The Tigers likely need to add some experienced veterans but, adding a high upside player with some experience in the Big Ten and the SEC isn't the worst idea. The Tigers have struggled landing safeties and if the Tigers can't land any top end players they should circle back on some high upside pieces.
