The transfer portal is in full swing after opening on Monday as thousands of College Basketball players have entered their name into the transfer portal. The LSU Tigers saw the effect as three LSU Tigers Tyrell Ward, Corey Chest, and Mike Williams III all entered the transfer portal. LSU hasn't lost any key pieces but, this will be a hectic transfer cycle for the LSU Tigers.

During the season, LSU made the announcement to ensure Matt McMahon would be back next season and he'd be back with more resources as LSU will heavily invest in roster building using NIL. After a 3-15 season in the SEC, it's clear that LSU needs to go out and land some high quality players if the Tigers are going to compete with the powers in the SEC.

Without any transfer losses, LSU was going to have a tall task as the Tigers two leading scorers Jordan Sears and Cam Carter are out of eligibility. On Tuesday, one of the elite talents that you throw the new NIL resources at entered the transfer portal as New Mexico guard Donovan Dent entered the transfer portal.

Donovan Dent is one of the elite scorers in College Basketball with the ability to single handedly win a game on any given night. For New Mexico, Dent averaged 20.6 points per game with 6.4 assists per game while shooting 41% from three.

Dent's ability as a three point shooter alone should be interest of LSU as the Tigers struggled all season long to knock down the three. As a program you invest more into NIL to land a player of Dent's stature as he can change the dynamic of a team on his own like Cam Carter did.

Donovan Dent just entered the transfer portal but, LSU should show interest.
