On Friday Night the LSU Softball team ran out onto the field in front of the Tigers faithful with massive hopes in the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Tournament dreams quickly turned into nightmares as LSU lost to the 4th seeded In-State Southeastern Louisiana Lions. On Saturday, the team showed grit facing elimination, knocking off UConn to face the Lions once again. Instead of moving onto Sunday and getting their revenge, the LSU Softball team got walked off stunning the fanbase.
At this point, it's hard for LSU fans to even feel surprised as the nightmare they saw this weekend has started to become a tradition. The Tigers haven't made it back to the College World Series since 2017, an unacceptable mark given the teams talent. This weekend, LSU gave Southeastern its first two wins in the NCAA Tournament another disappointing stat. As the Tigers go down in their own regional it also marks the 2nd time in 3 years the Tigers fall in their own regional to an In-State team.
As this nightmare is becoming a yearly tradition, LSU Softball fans are realizing the harsh truth and that is that Beth Torina has to be let go. Given the talent and resources, the program has, the less than stellar results are unacceptable especially for how long of a leash she has been given. The last 5 seasons in SEC play hasn't seen the Tigers finish better than 5th place yet, another knock against Torina.
After the loss to Southeastern, LSU fans are lined up calling for Scott Woodward to finally make a change.
Beth Torina has to go. We should not lose our own regional every year. This is crazy 😔

The Sun Belt conference fans are even having their moment to poke fun at the Tigers for another early exit.
Something about Beth Torina and losing to in state schools in the Baton Rouge Regional

LSU fans aren't even pleased with the regular season results any more as everyone knows what is coming in the postseason.
Fire Beth Torina! She is washed. Stop settling for mediocrity. Idc if she wins in the regular season. She is a massive choke artist.

Despite the middling results, Scott Woodward granted Torina an extension in June running through 2028 which is certainly a head scratching decision given the results. The question now lies in the fact that LSU's administration may not be so quick to let go of Beth Torina as it would require paying a buy out which may not be worth it to them, given the financial burden paired with the fact that it's not a revenue sport.
