After surving elimination to start the day, the LSU Softball team quickly had to turn around and face the team that sent them to the brink of elimination as they faced off against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions. While Southeastern was a 4 seed it was a massive concern facing the Lions as they played LSU close in the regular season and it showed on Friday Night.
The LSU offense was the first to strike in this matchup as Jalia Lassiter came through with an RBI single scoring Coffey.
The mood for LSU fans quickly flipped in the bottom of the 1st inning as Tatum Clopton walked into the circle to face the Lions offense. 3 walks and an error came back to haunt the Tigers as the Lions were able to score 4 runs without recording a hit, making it 4-1 Southeastern.
The Tigers offense wasn't able to make its way back from the 3 run hole until the 4th inning as an error started a rally. Sierra Daniel singled down the line to score Maci Bergeron making it 4-2. Jadyn Laneaux singled to right field, scoring McKenzie Redoutey, and Sierra Daniel would later score on a wild pitch to knot this game at 4.

The Lions would retake the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning as mistakes by the Tigers hurt the team. A leadoff hit by pitch led to a run scoring as the Lions doubled to left but, the throw in hit the runner in the helmet bouncing away allowing the Lions to take a 5-4 lead. The Lions then made it 6-4 on a ground out putting the pressure on LSU.
LSU showed no quit in the 6th inning with another rally sparked by an error from the Lions. Laneaux reached on an error by the 2nd baseman and Avery Hodge was hit by a pitch which allowed Jalia Lassiter to come through with a massive 2 RBI double.

The pressure was put right back on LSU in the bottom of the 6th as Southeastern scored on a single up the middle.
Once again, the offense came through with a run in the top of the 7th as Jadyn Laneaux hit one off of 3rd base to tie the game.

The bottom of the 7th was a disaster for LSU as the Lions hit a lead off single to put the winning run on base. A throwing error on the sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third putting the Tigers in serious trouble. LSU would load the bases to make a force out at home but, it did not matter as the Lions walked the Tigers off.
The story of the game even in the Tigers win was leaving runners on base and in this loss LSU left 8 runners on which could've easily swung the game. The 3 errors by the Tigers also played a massive role in the Tigers loss.
Nonetheless, it's another season that ends way sooner than any LSU fans could've expected and it'll be a massive talking point for the fanbase. The LSU Softball team hasn't made it to the College World Series since 2017 and Beth Torina's job will start to come into question after falling in Regionals again. Torina was given an extension in June of 2024 but, with the level of talent LSU has had and the results its not out of the realm of possibilities.
