The LSU Tigers are currently holding on for dear life, and searching for answers as Ole Miss has come out on fire. The crowd in Oxford is on fire, and the Tigers' offense is struggling to settle into this game, putting a ton of pressure on Blake Baker's defense. The issue for the Tigers is that even without Charlie Weis Jr and Lane Kiffin, the Rebels are incredibly hard to slow down.
Trinidad Chambliss has been lights-out, and the defense needs every resource available to try and find some answers for this Rebels offense as they're leading 17-0. Adding to a laundry list of concerns for the Tigers is the fact that the defense is now down a defensive back.
Dashawn Spears exits Ole Miss game with leg injury
In the second quarter, the LSU Tigers took a massive hit as Dashawn Spears was injured in a case of friendly fire as PJ Woodland landed on his left ankle.

Spears stayed down on the field after the play, and had to be helped off the field as he couldn't put any weight on his left foot.
Update: After halftime, Dashawn Spears came out for the second half on crutches, which is never a good sign.
Dashawn Spears plays the STAR position in Blake Baker's defense, which is almost impossible to replace. CJ Jimcoily will likely fill the role if Spears isn't able to return, but you'd prefer it if the Tigers had their more veteran option available. After Jimcoily spent time playing the STAR/Nickel role, Jhase Thomas has replaced him.
LSU signed Dashawn Spears as a 4-star recruit, as the Tigers looked to keep the Denham Springs native in-state. Additions like Tamarcus Cooley and AJ Haulcy in recent seasons have kept the Tigers from deploying Spears in a bigger role, but he was expected to be a breakout star for LSU this season.
This season, Spears has racked up 7 tackles, a sack, and a pass deflection as the Tigers starting STAR.
