Day Two of the 2025 NFL Draft is underway as NFL teams make second and third round draft choices to help build out the rest of their rosters. While first round picks are made to give teams cornerstone pieces, the second day of the NFL Draft gives teams a chance to find solid starters and impact pieces.

The LSU Football team had a quiet first round compared to LSU's recent run producing elite NFL talent as Will Campbell was the lone LSU Tiger to go in the first round of the draft. The second night of the NFL Draft is going to be a much busier night for the Tigers and it kicks off as Mason Taylor is picked 42nd overall by the New York Jets.

Mason Taylor came to LSU as a three-star recruit out of Florida ranked as the 492nd ranked player in the class, the 24th ranked tight end in the class, and the 67th ranked player out of Florida. Based on the fact that he was just selected 42nd overall and is the 3rd Tight End off the board, he absolutely demolished expectations.

Despite being a 3-star recruit, Mason Taylor arrived in Baton Rouge and was a starter for the LSU Football team as a True Freshman. On a team with Kayshon Boutte, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr, and Kyren Lacy, Mason Taylor was third on the team in receiving yards with 38 catches for 414 yards, and 3 touchdowns. If Mason Taylor never played another snap for the Tigers after his Freshman season, he would've been an All-Time hero at LSU for

Mason Taylor went on to finish his LSU career catching 129 passes for 1,308 yards and 6 touchdowns becoming the most productive tight end in the history of the LSU program.

The New York Jets are getting an instant impact player who will be a key piece of the offense from the moment he steps onto the field. Taylor's ability as a receiver makes him an instant impact player and a safety blanket for Justin Fields. The underrated aspect of Taylor's game is his ability as a blocker which will open up holes for the Jets in the rushing attack.

The New York Jets had a massive need at tight end after losing veteran tight end Tyler Conklin in free agency. Mason Taylor joins a tight end room with Jeremy Ruckert who has shown promise but, hasn't had a chance at starting. After signing Justin Fields in free agency, the team needed to select a tight end who could work the short area of the field and they get that piece in Mason Taylor.
