Just days before the first full weekend of college football is set to begin, broadcast drama is dominating social media. Because of a carriage dispute between FOX Sports and YouTube TV, millions of college football fans are in danger of missing some of the biggest matchups of Week 1, including No. 1 Texas at No. 3 Ohio State. The highly anticipated top-five matchup is set to broadcast on FOX Sports/YouTubeTV, with FOX's Big Noon Kickoff on site with Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt, and Jenny Taft on the call from Columbus.

The deadline for the two sides to reach an agreement is this Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 5:00 p.m. ET. If the two parties don't come together, YouTube TV subscribers may not be able to view some Week 1 games. The deadline comes just over 48 hours from the first major game of the weekend, as Auburn visits Baylor on Friday night. The game between the Tigers and Bears is set to be broadcast on FOX. The dispute impacts not only FOX Sports, but FS1, Big Ten Network, the FOX News channel, and more.

LSU vs Clemson not impacted by broadcast dispute

But don't worry LSU fans: the dispute between FOX Sports and YouTube TV doesn't impact the LSU vs. Clemson game on Saturday night. The matchup between the top-10 teams will air on ABC, which is owned by Disney, and thus, isn't impacted by the dispute between FOX Sports and YouTube TV. So, Tiger fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the game will still be available to all YouTube TV subscribers.

NFL viewing could be impacted as well, as FOX carries multiple nationally-televised games every Sunday. But the sense or urgency is higher for college football, given that several big matchups are just days away. Hopefully things get resolved before Wednesday's deadline. Missing out on big time college football would be devastating for fans who have waited so long for the sport to return.
