The LSU Tigers were able to bounce back after losing to Ole Miss with a 20-10 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 7. It wasn't the prettiest performance - which has been a common theme for the Tigers this season - but it was enough to move to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in SEC play. The running game looked a lot better and the defense once again put together an impressive outing.
Next on the schedule is Vanderbilt. The Tigers and Commodores are set to meet in Nashville this Saturday, Oct. 18. It's a top-25 matchup as LSU is No. 10 and Vanderbilt is No. 17 in the latest AP Poll. Vanderbilt is showing that last season was no fluke, as Clark Lea's team is 5-1 on the season with their lone loss coming on the road at now No. 6 Alabama last week. The Commodores are coming off a bye, meaning they've had an extra week to prepare for the Tigers. LSU vs Vanderbilt betting odds have been released, and fans are surprised to see the Tigers as underdogs.

So far this season, LSU is 5-1 straight up but just 3-3 against the spread. In their most recent outing, the Tigers covered the 8.5 point spread against South Carolina in a 20-10 win. Given LSU's defense strength and underperforming offense thus far, it makes sense that the Tigers have played in several low-scoring games, with the Under going 5-1 in LSU's six games so far this season. The only game that went Over the total was LSU's 56-10 win over Southeastern Louisiana in Week 4.
On the other side, Vanderbilt is 5-1 straight up and 4-2 against the spread. The Commodores covered the spread in four straight games to open the season, but have failed to cover the number in each of their last two games. The Under is 3-3 in Vanderbilt games.
Kick-off between the Tigers and Commodores is set for 11:00 a.m. CT at Vanderbilt's FirstBank Stadium in Nashville. Vanderbilt has won all of its home games this season, but lost three straight games at home to finish the 2024 season.
