The transfer portal is open in College Football as players across the Country will have 10 days to enter their name into the Spring transfer portal to pick their next school. The LSU Tigers expect to have a quiet spring after making a ton of additions this winter signing a massive recruiting class and the biggest transfer class in the Brian Kelly era.
As LSU loaded up this Winter, it was clear that LSU may see some attrition in the transfer portal this Spring. One of the positions LSU was likely going to see a ton of losses at is wide receiver as LSU added transfers Barion Brown, Nic Anderson, and Destyn Hill along with Phillip Wright and TaRon Francis in this recruiting class.
LSU Wide Receiver Javen Nicholas enters the transfer portal
On Thursday Afternoon, LSU Wide Receiver Javen Nicholas became the 2nd LSU Tiger to enter the transfer portal following John Emery Jr who entered the transfer portal on Thursday.
While it wasn't planned, losing Javen Nicholas to the transfer portal isn't shocking news for the Tigers. Nicholas was behind a bunch of LSU Wide Receivers on the depth chart heading into the Summer after Brian Kelly and his staff brought in a trio of transfer wide receivers.
Javen Nicholas signed with LSU as a preferred walk on in the 2022 recruiting class out of St Augustine High School. During his three seasons at LSU, Nicholas served mostly as a Special Teamer appearing in 26 games for the Tigers. The 2024 season was Nicholas' most productive to date catching 3 passes for 24 yards.
Nicholas will now transfer with two years of eligibility remaining which will appeal to some schools. The transfer wide receiver will most likely land somewhere where he can play right away rather than a school where he'll need to wait behind others.
