It has been a hectic start to the unofficial offseason as LSU goes through preparation for its Bowl Game and for the 2025 season. Wednesday kicked off the Early Signing Period while players have begun announcing their plans to transfer to a new school. Among the players LSU will need to replace are Rickie Collins, CJ Daniels, Jordan Allen, DaShawn Womack, and more that will likely announce in the days to come.

The transfer portal departures can be surprising but, LSU's most surprising loss yet comes as Tight Ends Coach and Special Teams coordinator Slade Nagle will be leaving LSU to become the offensive coordinator at Houston.

The move is surprising in the sense that Fritz didn't hire Slade Nagle last year when he took the job as he hired Kevin Barbay but, he now circles back hiring Nagle a year later.

This adds a new element to the offseason for Brian Kelly as he had to replace his entire defensive staff last year while he also dealt with offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock returning to Notre Dame. Given that Nagle was coaching both the tight ends and the special teams unit, it'll be interesting to see if Brian Kelly chooses to hire one coach to do both or if he hires two separte coaches. Given LSU's struggles in the kicking department you'd like to see LSU bring in two coaches one for each role.

There is no clear front runner for either role which will make it an interesting aspect of the offseason that lies ahead.
