For a long time everyone considered the ACC the best Basketball Conference in College Basketball. The conference had all the blue bloods in Duke and North Carolina with all the traditions and rivalries in the Sport. The ACC has quickly learned what happens when the SEC truly cares about a sport as the SEC has been dominant taking over as the best conference in College Basketball.
On the Men's Side the SEC clinched a win on day one finishing a dominant 14-2 for the entire challenge. LSU did their part with a double digit win over an impressive Florida State team clinching a win for the SEC before the second day of the tournament. The Tigers improved to 7-1 behind impressive showings by Cam Carter, Jordan Sears, and Vyctorius Miller as the guards continue to elevate their game for this team.
On the Women's Side the SEC dominated as well taking home the win with a 10-6 Win over the ACC. LSU didn't roll over their counterpart like the men's team did as LSU needed overtime to knock off Stanford. Mikaylah Williams, Kailyn Gilbert, and Flau'Jae Johnson combined for 78 points helping LSU storm back to win. As LSU was pulling ahead in Overtime, Kim Mulkey proved once again that we need a camera on her at all times as she was fired up.
The teams that spoiled the fun for the SEC on both sides were Auburn and Kentucky on the Men's side and Texas, Kentucky Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi State on the Women's side.
Dominant showings will help in March
As the SEC dominated this challenge on both sides of the matchup, it'll only help the SEC in March. As the Selection Committees will be making their selections of at-large teams, they'll have to take into account how much better the SEC was than the ACC if a team from each is on the bubble. For LSU's Womens team this may not be a big deal as they're ranked 5th in the Country, the Men's team will most likely fall in the range where they're a tournament toss up.
