This week was a successful week for the LSU Lady Tigers as they remained unbeaten moving to 17-0 and 2-0 in the SEC with wins over Arkansas and Auburn. Given the Tigers unbeaten record, it seemed that LSU may jump up in the AP Poll from their ranking which was 6th especially with a win over an impressive Auburn team that just finally got Taliah Scott back from injury.
The Tigers remain behind top ranked UCLA who's 15-0, 14-1 South Carolina, 12-2 Notre Dame, 14-1 USC, and 15-1 Texas. The Tigers received 624 points in the Poll 27 points behind 5th ranked Texas while the Lady Tigers didn't receive any first place votes.
While the ranking still stings a bit for LSU, Kim Mulkey gets another piece of motivation for her team as SEC play continues. This week LSU will take on the 16th ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers looking to add to their resume which boasts a win over 21st ranked NC State.
The month still has a few massive games for the Lady Tigers in addition to the Tennessee game as LSU will face 2nd Ranked South Carolina on January 23rd and 10th Ranked Oklahoma on January 30th. If LSU wins both games and the Tennessee game, the Lady Tigers will have a strong case for the Nation's top ranking.
