Mansoor Delane knew everyone was in for a surprise at the 2026 NFL Draft when he stepped onto the red carpet in his custom mauve suit in Pittsburgh.
NFL Draft rarely ever goes without surprise trades and move-ups, and this year's was headlined by the Chiefs, who had the LSU cornerback written all over it. The Kansas City Chiefs picked Delane at No. 6.

Kansas City shook hands with the Clevaland Browns and moved up to the No. 6 overall pick, handing picks 9, 74, and 148 in the deal. With Trent McDuffie traded to the Los Angeles Rams and Jaylen Watson off to free agency, a cornerback was an urgent First-Round need for the Chiefs.
However, they hardly let anyone catch a whiff of their interest in Delante, though, since they wanted to "keep it quiet."
"They weren't really on me too much in this process, but they said they wanted to keep it quiet and make that sneak move," Delane told ESPN's Laura Rutledge on stage at the NFL draft
They made the best move in the draft. I'm excited," Delane added.
Delane looked elated, to put it mildly when speaking about his new home in Kansas.
“There’s no better opportunity. We have a championship team. We had one little down year. I’m ready to go,” Delane said, per ESPN’s Nate Taylor.
“Coach Spags. Everything, the culture. It’s a winning program. You know what’s on the other side of the ball,” he added, giving a subtle nod to Patrick Mahomes.
Garrett Nussmeier will be the next LSU name everyone will wait to hear in Round 1.
