Delane performed at his best under the brightest lights, and is now set to become a dynamic playmaker on Sundays. On Thursday evening, On3's Hayes Fawcett reported that Delane has officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. He figures to be a Fist Round

Mansoor Delane transferring to LSU skyrocketed his NFL potential

After three stand-out seasons at Virginia Tech, Delane could have entered the NFL Draft at the end of last season. He was projected to be selected as soon as Day 2, but instead he chose to enter the transfer portal and play one more year of college football.

He was one of the most sought-after defensive players in the portal, and ultimately chose to play for Blake Baker's defense at LSU. The move from Virginia Tech to LSU gave Delane an opportunity to showcase his elite skill set on the national stage.

Delane turned heads all season long, showing his abilities as a true lock-down corner who was rarely targeted throughout the course of the regular season. He racked up 358 pass coverage snaps on the season, and allowed just 13 receptions for 147 yards in 11 games. The Silver Spring, MD native also totaled 45 tackles and led the SEC in passes defended (13) and passes broken up (11).

Delane's decision to transfer paid off in the best way possible. He emerged into arguably the best cornerback in the country in 2025, and vastly improved his draft stock. He now has the potential to be the next great NFL defensive back to come from "DBU" in Baton Rouge. Tiger fans are eager to hear his name called when the NFL Draft rolls around in April.
