After going 3-15 in SEC Play it was clear the LSU Basketball team needed to revamp the roster via the transfer portal. LSU had a ton of production to replace at the guard position as Cam Carter, Jordan Sears, and Dji Bailey are all out of eligibility. The Tigers needs only got bigger as the LSU Tigers lost Vyctorius Miller, Mike Williams III, and Tyrell Ward to the transfer portal.
LSU made its first transfer portal addition on Monday landing Mississippi State center Michael Nwoko but, it wasn't the massive transfer portal addition that could help elevate LSU into SEC contention. On Monday Night, Matt McMahon got his massive addition pulling off a stunner.

Late on Monday Night, the LSU Basketball team won its biggest recruiting battle that it may win this offseason as UNLV Point Guard Dedan Thomas Jr committed to LSU over Kentucky, Florida, and Syracuse.

The 6-1 sophomore chose the Tigers over Kentucky, Florida, and Syracuse. Averaged 15.6 PTS and 4.7 AST per game this season.https://t.co/kbE45H7AVS pic.twitter.com/XZFUqjK17R
The addition is massive for Matt McMahon as On3 ranks Dedan Thomas Jr as the 8th best player in the transfer portal. This offseason, LSU was committed to pouring more resources into the program on the NIL front and it clearly panned out as LSU beat out several of the biggest brands in the sport.
The investment in Dedan Thomas Jr is a perfect investment as he has two seasons of eligibility remaining meaning he can hopefully lead LSU for the next two seasons. This season, Thomas Jr averaged 15.5 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game, 4.7 assists per game, and shot 41.3% from three.
Dedan Thomas Jr is the perfect replacement for several of LSU's transfer losses as he can fill the void of Jordan Sears and Vyctorius Miller, leaving running the offense while replacing Cam Carter's scoring ability. Thomas Jr can create his own shot and he can create for others which will help a ton as LSU loses four of its five leading scorers.
There is still plenty of work to be done for the LSU Basketball team as they still need to add additional scorers but, Matt McMahon has his crown jewel addition in this transfer class.
