On Wednesday, chaos in College Football will begin once again as the Spring College Football transfer portal opens on April 16th running through April 25th. In many ways, the chaos already begun as Nico Iamaleava will leave Tennessee after a failed NIL negotiation while another star in running back Jadyn Ott announced his decision to transfer.

The LSU Football team enters the Spring transfer portal window without a ton of needs after bringing in a massive transfer class in the Winter. There are a few positions however, that LSU still may need to address this Spring as LSU could use high end talents at defensive tackle, offensive tackle, and safety.

On Monday Night, a Safety that fits LSU's needs hit the transfer portal and he has ties to the LSU coaching staff.

Miami Safety Zaquan Patterson enters the transfer portal, could emerge as LSU target

The Miami Hurricanes suffered a massive loss on Monday Night as Sophomore safety Zaquan Patterson announced he'll be entering the transfer portal.

Patterson played in every game this season for Miami in 2024 and was projected to be a starter for Miami in 2025. The Hurricanes did land transfer safety Zechariah Poyser over LSU which could've also pushed Patterson into the transfer portal.

The LSU Tigers have ties to Zaquan Patterson as LSU analyst Lance Guidry recruited Patterson to Miami as the Hurricanes' defensive coordinator and the secondary recruiter in his recruitment. If LSU chooses to pursue Patterson, the ties should help LSU in what will be a competitive recruitment.

While Patterson is a great player, the part that should be the most attractive to LSU is that he has three years of eligibility remaining, meaning he isn't a rental. As LSU has most of the pieces in place, if the staff feels Patterson can be an upgrade they can't afford to pass up on him as there's too much riding on this season.

The transfer portal officially opens on Wednesday which should be the soonest we'll know if LSU is going to pursue Patterson.
