The LSU women's basketball team picked up a strong 89-73 win over the Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday night at the PMAC. The senior night win sent Flau'jae Johnson, Izzy Besselman and Amiya Joyner out in style, and moved the Tigers to 25-4 overall and 11-4 in SEC play this season.

Playing in her 100th career game with the Tigers, Mikaylah Williams put together a great all-around performance in the win. The junior guard racked up a team-leading 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds and five assists to help lead the Tigers to victory. Along the way, she reached an impressive career milestone that puts her in an elite group of Tigers.

Mikaylah Williams reaches 1,500-point mark in LSU's win over Tennessee

Williams entered Thursday night's matchup against the Volunteers needing eight points to reach the 1,500-point mark in her LSU career. Her 20-point performance got the job done, as she knotted her 1,500th career point on a nice drive and finish just before halftime.

Williams has become one of the most reliable scorers in LSU history, and is now the 17th player in LSU women's basketball history to score 1,500 points.

Hailing from Bossier City, Williams came to LSU ranked as the No. 1 player in the country for the 2023 recruiting class. She began her collegiate career with plenty of hype, as he was coming off back-to-back Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year honors at Parkway High School. She's done nothing but deliver in Baton Rouge, as she entered Thursday boasting a career stat line that features 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.

So far this season, Williams has started all 29 games for LSU, and entered Thursday's contest averaging 12.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and a career-high 3.6 assists per game. She is one of four Tigers averaging at least 10.0 points per game on the year.

LSU's win over Tennessee secured a double bye for Kim Mulkey's squad in the upcoming SEC Tournament. Williams and the Tigers wrap up the regular season on Sunday, March 1 with a road tilt against Mississippi State in Starkville. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. CT.
