This weekend, the LSU Football team looks to take firm control of first place in the SEC with a win over the Texas A&M Aggies. The Tigers defense has been improving week over week with two of its best performances of the season the last two weeks. The Tigers defense has done this without star linebacker Harold Perkins Jr who is out for the season with a torn ACL.

As the Texas A&M Aggies prepare for LSU, Head Coach Mike Elko who has experience as a defensive coordinator is noticing the improvement from LSU's defense even as the Tigers play without Harold Perkins Jr.

"Sometimes when your best player or most talented player goes down, everybody elevates around it."

Mike Elko is certainly familiar with Harold Perkins Jr from his time as Texas A&M's defensive coordinator as he was involved in recruiting Perkins for the Aggies.

Elko further spoke on the LSU Football team and its defensive improvements saying the following.

"They're extremely talented. They've gotten more and more comfortable with the defense. Some of the nature progression and growth, you've seen that from them from start to finish."

This weekend, the LSU Football team will need to dominate against a strong Texas A&M run game. The Aggies are picking up 218.57 yards per game on the ground which has allowed their team to grind down their opponents defense. We saw LSU shut down a run heavy offense last week against Arkansas but, this Texas A&M team is much better and will provide a bigger challenge.
