As the NFL Season goes along, the LSU Tigers Wide Receivers in the NFL continue to absolutely dominate opposing defensive backs and opposing schools' wide receivers. This season has been one of the best seasons by a group of wide receivers from the same school. For context on how dominant LSU has been, the numbers tell you this is a truly historic season.
The Tigers have already shattered the single season touchdown record of 38 touchdowns which they set back in 2021. Through Sunday, the LSU Tigers have recorded 5,490 receiving yards which ranks fifth all time by a College in one season. The team at the top of the rankings is the Miami Hurricanes in the NFL in 1995 who accounted for 5,798 yards.
Given that LSU is just 309 yards away from breaking the All-Time record, we should see LSU break it next week especially as Foster Moreau can help chip away at the margin on Monday Night Football. Given that LSU is already almost at the record and should be able to do it in the same amount of games as Miami's players did, we'll look at how we've gotten here.
Ja'Marr Chase leads the entire league in catches, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns with 108 catches for 1,510 yards, and 15 touchdowns an absurd stat line with two games left to play. The only receiver within striking distance is his former teammate Justin Jefferson who is up to 92 catches for 1,387 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Tigers have gotten some heavy lifting from their two rookie wide receivers Brian Thomas Jr and Malik Nabers who have done a ton with poor quarterback play. Thomas Jr ranks 6th in the NFL in yards with 1,088 yards and 9 touchdowns on just 73 catches. Malik Nabers missed two games yet he ranks 14th in yards with 969 yards and 4 touchdowns on 97 catches.
The four star receivers account for 4,954 of LSU's 5,798 receiving yards in the NFL this season.
The emergence of Kayshon Boutte in New England has helped LSU jump up in the rankings this season as Boutte has caught 32 passes for 444 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The Tigers have also gotten contributions from Odell Beckham, Foster Moreau, and Terrace Marshall Jr this season.
Another bulletin point for Wide Receiver U
While other schools still try to claim that they're Wide Receiver U the only true answer is LSU and the Tigers continue to prove it every weekend. LSU has far and away the league's best wide receivers in Jefferson and Chase while Brian Thomas Jr and Malik Nabers are ascending into that Top 10 conversation as rookies. The Tigers are only going to continue to pump out elite wide receiver talent and Kyren Lacy will join the fold in the NFL next season.
