On Monday, the LSU Basketball team kickstarted their rebuild via the transfer portal following a 3-15 season in SEC Play. The week kicked off as LSU landed talented center Michael Nwoko from Mississippi State. Later on Monday, Matt McMahon pulled off arguably his biggest recruiting win to date beating out several blue bloods for UNLV Point Guard Dedan Thomas Jr.

While the LSU Tigers have started off the transfer portal with a bang, the Tigers still have plenty of work to do. On Tuesday, LSU hosted elite twins TJ and TK Timpkins while having a zoom call with UCF transfer Keyshawn Hall.

One potential target to follow will be a familiar name to Louisiana Natives as a St Augustine Alumni entered the transfer portal.

Elite Guard Jaron Pierre Jr is in the transfer portal and has heard from LSU

On Monday, Jaron Pierre Jr entered the transfer portal after an incredible year at Jacksonville State, on Tuesday, he revealed that LSU is one of the schools that he's heard from.

Jaron Pierre Jr led college basketball with 777 points scored this season which is 18 more points than the next closest player. Jaron Pierre Jr was the Conference USA Player of the Year, averaging 21.6 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 42.4% from the field and 38.2% from three.

Last transfer cycle, LSU saw the benefit of being the hometown school when Cam Carter returned to Louisiana when he could've transferred to much bigger schools. Like Cam Carter, Pierre Jr has the ability to come in for one season leading the Tigers in scoring bridging the gap as LSU's younger core develops.

LSU already added Dedan Thomas Jr who's a great scorer but, can create a ton for other players. Surrounding Dedan Thomas Jr with a guard like Jaron Pierre Jr and the Tigers talent at forward will only help in elevating this team ensuring they compete near the top of the SEC.
