The SEC opener between the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators is almost here. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at Tiger Stadium, and Tiger fans are fired up to create a raucous atmosphere. LSU came away with a 23-7 win over Louisiana Tech in Baton Rouge last week, but LSU's play on offense left a lot to be desired. Can Garrett Nussmeier and company get rolling against the Gators in this one?

As kick-off for the SEC opener draws nearer, here are the latest LSU vs Florida betting odds to go along with a game preview and score prediction.

LSU vs Florida betting odds

As of 6:00 a.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 13, here are the betting odds for LSU vs Florida on DraftKings Sportsbook:

Spread

  • Florida +7 (-110)
  • LSU -7 (-110)

Total

  • 47.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

The betting odds have shifted a bit throughout the week. On Sunday, LSU was favored by 9.5 pointsagainst Florida according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Now, the number sits at LSU -7. The change signals that bettors are liking Florida on the spread in this matchup. Furthermore, the total has dropped a few points. It was originally listed at 50.5, but has since dropped to 47.5, where it sits today. That tells us oddsmakers are expecting a relatively low-scoring game.

LSU vs Florida prediction

LSU needs a faster start on offense. The Tigers have scored just seven first quarter points and 13 first half points so far this season. It's now Week 3, meaning the offense has had several weeks to get things in order. Hopefully, that results in a better start.

Nussmeier wasn't on his game early last week, but he is more than capable of getting back on track. The offensive line gets a big boost with Braelin Moore slated to return, which will hopefully help the run game get going. LSU asked Nussmeier to throw 47 times against Florida last season, which didn't work out well in a 26-17 loss. Getting the rushing attack going and creating a more balanced offensive approach will be key in this one.

Florida is going to come out swinging after what happened last week in Gainesville. But unforced errors and missed opportunities continue to be a theme for the Gators under Billy Napier. DJ Lagway is still figuring things out, and he is about to enter into a raucous road environment. The Gators will make it a battle, but in the end, LSU prevails.

Score prediction: LSU wins 24-20
