Oxford PD had one hilariously sarcastic word for LSU visiting Ole Miss on Sept. 19

The Oxford Police Department is filled with enthusiasm over Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss homecoming.

It was only a matter of time before Lane Kiffin made his triumphant return to Oxford. The former Ole Miss head coach left the Rebels in the middle of the College Football Playoff to take over what he believes to be the better job at LSU. In time, he may be proven right. However, Ole Miss was a playoff team a season ago, while LSU was not... They will now be playing under the bright lights on Sept. 19.

With the help of Darryl Philbin from The Office, all the Oxford Police Department could say was, "Yay!"

Given the reputation that Kiffin has to uphold, the Oxford Police Department could not be happier over when this year's rendition of the Magnolia Bowl has been scheduled. Kiffin's return to Vaught-Hemingway was always going to be must-see television, especially given the acrimonious nature of these Magnolia Bowl rivals. With all day to properly lubricate for this, the police may have work to do...

Kiffin had to dodge golf balls and bottles of mustard when he did finally return to Knoxville in 2021.

Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss return has Oxford police department face-palming

Kiffin may have a knack for burning bridges on the way out of town, but he knows how to stir up the masses. He may think he is a man of the people, but he is truly one of one. Never change, Lane. Never change... For now, all of the college football world is going to be watching this early-season rivalry game under a new lens. With it being at night, it will only add magnitude to this SEC game's outcome.

The winner of this game will have gained a signature early-season victory. Truth be told, the loser may backslide just a bit, but the value of this SEC rivalry game will remain extraordinarily high for the time being. With only a handful of SEC teams being good enough to make the playoff, maybe the winner of this game will be of the same cachet as Georgia and Texas? Who else could be joining them there?

Right now, Ole Miss has slightly more stability with Pete Golding having looked the part as the interim head coach during its playoff run, as well as Trinidad Chambliss being back for another season at quarterback. This game will also be in Oxford at night, for what it is worth... That being said, LSU does have the higher upside of these two teams heading into this season. A road win should validate that.

Overall, the tension that is going to be in the air in and around Oxford, Mississippi on that night in mid-to-late September will be simply undeniable. Kiffin turning heel in the Magnolia Bowl rivalry was so unexpected, but then again, he is who he is... Right now, the Oxford Police Department has roughly four months to put enough plans in place to make sure the entire town will not go a-blaze on Sept. 19.

All LSU fans can hope for is to silence Kiffin's many critics with a convincing road win over Ole Mss.
