The LSU Tigers put the entire country on notice on Saturday night. LSU's 17-10 win over No. 4 Clemson on the road made a strong statement that LSU has sights set on an SEC title and another National Championship. The season opening win silenced a lot of doubters.

In the sports betting world, the Tigers entered Saturday night's contest against Clemson as 4.5-point underdogs. The spread actually opened at Clemson -2.5 earlier this summer, and moved a full two points prior to kick-off. That movement showed that fans and bettors alike were backing Clemson in big numbers.

As media members and analysts across the country made the picks for the game, not many were publicly backing LSU. Many doubted Brian Kelly's ability to get over the 1-0 hump in Baton Rouge, as he entered Saturday with an 0-3 record in openers at LSU. But they were wrong. Kelly got it done, and now LSU is off to the races.

Notorious college football analyst Paul Finebaum chimed in with his prediction last week, and he couldn't have been more wrong. Not only did Finebaum predict that Clemson would beat LSU, but that the loss would make life "very miserable" for Brian Kelly.

Needless to say, Finebaum's prediction did not age well. Not only did LSU win and break the losing streak in season openers, but the defense showed out. Holding Clemson to just 10 total points and zero in the second half, the Tiger defense put on an outstanding performance that has Tiger fans fired up. It wasn't always pretty, but LSU's gutsy win showed a lot about Brian Kelly's team.

Kelly got the Tigers over the 1-0 hump, and could have his team in line for a monster 2025 season. There's a long way go to, but Tiger fans are enjoying this one. The official LSU Football X account even got in on the fun.
