The college football world is waiting to hear from Lane Kiffin on Saturday when he is expected to make a public announcement regarding his future. LSU fans are waiting with bated breath for the update, as Kiffin is the top candidate to replace Brian Kelly after he was fired on October 26. Kiffin seems to be deciding between staying at Ole Miss, or leaving for LSU or Florida.

When reflecting on Kiffin's media availability from Monday, Paul Finebaum noted that it's more about what Kiffin didn't say than what he did say. "He didn't say I definitely will be here and coach my team in the College Football Playoff," Finebaum said when speaking on Tuesday morning with ESPN's Mike Greenberg on Get Up. "That is not difficult. You can ask almost any coach who is in the College Football Playoff poll right now and they will give you that answer. Kiffin nuanced it, which means one thing: He is likely to leave."

Finebaum added that he believes Kiffin is in the best spot where he is - coaching the Ole Miss Rebels. Kiffin has Ole Miss on the verge of an appearance in the College Football Playoff with a 10-1 record heading into Friday's Egg Bowl matchup against Mississippi State. A win would all but cement Ole Miss' spot in the CFP, while a loss would make things a little more dicey. But as it stands, Ole Miss is a National Championship contender with Kiffin at the helm.

Paul Finebaum believes LSU is the best destination for Kiffin if he leaves Ole Miss

Finebaum stated that he believes Florida might be a slightly better fit for Kiffin, but that LSU appears to have momentum. Finebaum cites LSU's National Championship pedigree, as Nick Saban, Les Miles, and Ed Orgeron all won national titles before then end of their fourth seasons in Baton Rouge. Brian Kelly leaves LSU without ever leading the Tigers to an appearance in the College Football Playoff, and the program is hungry to return to National Championship contention.

"I don't believe Lane Kiffin believes he can win a National Championship at Ole Miss. I don't know why he doesn't think that considering where they are in the polls right now. But clearly as he looks around Florida seems like a slightly better fit, but LSU is the hot school. LSU has won National Championships under Saban, Les Miles, and even Ed Orgeron. They didn't win one in four years under Brian Kelly, and that's why they paid to get rid of him. So it seems like LSU right now is the hot team."

Finebaum's comments have LSU fans smiling. LSU is arguably the best job in all of college football, and bringing Kiffin in would lead to a new sense of optimism among the Tiger faithful.

The saga surrounding LSU's coaching search has been a roller coaster of a ride, as the school has undergone several large leadership changes in recent weeks. Verge Ausberry is now the athletic director and Was Rousse has taken over as university president. Kiffin has been at the top of most LSU hot boards since the minute Brian Kelly was fired, and new LSU leadership can't afford to whiff on the next hire.
