A Way Too Early Look at LSU's Potential First Round Draftees in 2025

The 2025 LSU Draft Class may be one of the best in school history as it has three projected first-round picks with a few more that may play their way into being a first round pick.

Kyren Lacy - Wide Receiver

If there's any position LSU has been better than most at developing players and sending them into the NFL as first-round picks it's the wide receiver position. The LSU Football team just sent Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr into the NFL as first-round picks and their teammate may be next in line. Lacy had a productive 2023 with 558 yards and 7 touchdowns as the third option in the passing game.

The departures of Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr will see Lacy's game go to the next level as the focal point of the Tigers passing attack. Lacy impressed all spring showing a quick bond with Garrett Nussmeier as the two transition into new roles.

If Kyren Lacy can improve on a solid 2023 season, he'll have a chance to rise into the first round as a draft prospect. Both LSU first-round receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr weren't seen as first-round picks at this time last year and their impressive seasons got them into the first round.

Mason Taylor - Tight End

Along with Kyren Lacy, Mason Taylor fell victim to the dominance of Brian Thomas Jr and Malik Nabers. Heading into the 2024 season, Mason Taylor will certainly see a bigger role in the LSU offense as the receiving core has seen turnover. As a Freshman, Taylor recorded 414 yards and three touchdowns seeing his numbers dip in 2023 falling to 348 yards and one touchdown.

The Reliaquest Bowl with Nussmeier as the team's starting quarterback should serve as a good projection for Taylor's role in the offense as he recorded 7 catches for 88 yards. The increased role in the LSU offense could see Mason Taylor's draft stock skyrocket as he has all the tools needed to be a playmaker at the NFL level.
