This season, Brian Kelly has caught a ton of blame and has been a divisive figure to the fanbase as some want him fired while most have been more rational. The Tigers haven't been that elite of the elite team despite paying Kelly a hefty salary and having a talented roster but, you can see that improvements are being made.

The LSU Football team had to fight back from a 17 point deficit on Saturday, and even after taking the lead had to get one last stop to win the game. The Gamecocks got into field goal range, needing a 49 yard field goal to send the game into overtime.

As South Carolina lined up to take the 49 yard field goal, Brian Kelly timed his time out perfectly right as South Carolina was going to snap the ball. Despite the play being blown dead, kicker Alex Herrera attempted the kick missing badly to the right.

Alex Herrera then had to wait 90 seconds before he could attempt his next attempt as Brian Kelly iced him and the entire break, he likely thought about how he pushed his kick far right. When it came time to make the kick to tie the game, Herrera hooked it wide left giving LSU the win. Now you will never know for certain if it affected Herrera but, given the fact that he missed so far right and then missed left you have to believe that the kick that didn't count played into his miss.

Now the kick would've been difficult regardless as it was 49 yard kick in a do or die situation. The kick also would've been a career best by three yards for Herrera if made. For all of the slack Brian Kelly will catch for some of his coaching decisions, Shane Beamer badly mismanaged South Carolina's final drive.
