Prior to the start of the season, LSU had a massive chance to make the College Football Playoff at 25.3% according to ESPN's FPI. After losing the season opener to the USC Trojans, LSU Football was given just a 5.5% chance of making the College Football Playoff. After picking up wins against Nicholls State and South Carolina, LSU's playoff chances have only risen to 5.8%.

At 5.8%, the LSU Football team currently has the 32nd best chance to make the College Football Playoff.

That number should rise a little bit this weekend as long as LSU handles business as some ranked teams should suffer a loss. If USC handles business against Michigan, the Wolverines should fall from their current 6.2% odds to make the playoff. The loser of the game between Tennessee 72.1% and Oklahoma 15% will see their percentage dashed.

There are also a few teams ahead of LSU with shockingly high percentages to make the playoffs. Texas A&M has an 11.2% chance to make the playoffs with the same record as LSU. The ACC has Miami at 52.1%, Louisville at 26.7%, Clemson at 23.1%, Boston College at 13.7%, and Cal at 7.6% when it'll most likely be a one bid league.

There are a few teams with above a 1% chance that in all likelihood should have the percentages dashed already. Colorado has a 1% chance as does Washington at 1.3%, Iowa at 1.4%, and Kansas at 1.6%.

The percentage won't change much until the Tigers face Ole Miss

The LSU Football team frankly won't prove much until they face the Ole Miss Rebels in a few weeks. Beating Nicholls State and South Carolina doesn't prove much as LSU was viewed as a better team, the same goes for if LSU beats UCLA and South Alabama. The Rebels entered the season as one of the team's with the best chance to make the College Football Playoff and continue to build up hype as they crush smaller schools. A win over Ole Miss would drastically change the view of this LSU Football team and put them right back into the playoff conversation.
