NBA Summer League is kicking off this weekend as several NBA players begin their professional careers. The Summer League is a great opportunity for late draft picks and undrafted free agents to showcase their talent in hopes of gaining a roster spot in the NBA. The LSU Basketball team will be represented by four former LSU Basketball players who will look to earn a place in the NBA.

Will Baker - Center

After spending his final season as the starting center on the LSU Basketball team, Will Baker joins the Detroit Pistons Summer League team looking to earn a roster spot. The Pistons are coming off of a league worst 14-68 finish which bodes well for Baker's chances of earning a role with the team. Fellow SEC Alum Tolu Smith will join Will Baker on the team while Houston alum Marcus Sasser is another familiar name for college basketball fans.

Javonte Smart - Guard

The former LSU Tiger and NBA vet joins the Chicago Bulls summer league team in hopes of showcasing his ability for NBA teams. This past season Smart spent time with the 76ers G League affiliate while appearing in one game for the 76ers. Given that the Chicago Bulls are entering a tear down, Smart has a solid chance of earning a role with the Bulls with a strong Summer League showing.

KJ Williams - Power Forward

After going undrafted, the former LSU Basketball power forward spent the 2023 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder's G League affiliate. Williams sticks with the Thunder organization looking to get one step closer to the NBA. The Oklahoma City Thunder will be a hard team to crack especially after they signed center Isaiah Hartenstein but, he could become an attractive option for another team with a strong Summer league showing.

Darius Days - Power Forward

After earning some playing time with the Houston Rockets in the 2022-23 season, Days has struggled to catch on since. Days spent time with the Houston Rockets G League team before spending last season in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Playing with the 76ers Summer league team, it may be hard to earn a role with the Sixers but, Days could find himself back in the G League with a strong summer.
