How LSU Football's 2021 Signing Class has fared entering their Senior Season
Damarius McGhee - Cornerback
As a true freshman, McGhee showed some serious promise playing in every game while starting against Kansas State in the Texas Bowl. McGhee saw his playing time take a massive dip as he played only in the Auburn game. After the 2022 season, McGhee transferred to Kansas where he hasn't caught on quite yet.
Garrett Dellinger - Tackle
While Garrett Dellinger was recruited as an offensive tackle he's become a do-it-all player for the LSU offensive line. As a true freshman, Dellinger got four starts at left tackle then as a Sophomore he started games at left guard and center. In 2023, Dellinger started the entire season at left guard helping the LSU Offensive line in becoming finalists for the Joe Moore Award. Heading into 2024, Dellinger and Will Campbell will be tasked with protecting Garrett Nussmeier's blind side as LSU transitions quarterbacks.
Derrick Davis Jr - Safety
The Tigers only played Davis Jr on special teams his freshman year where he was able to play 12 games. As a Sophomore, Davis will be most remembered for his appearances as the team's emergency running back against UAB and Purdue finishing the season with 57 rushing yards and a touchdown. Davis Jr transferred to Pittsburgh after the 2022 season where he'll look to fill a bigger role as a redshirt Junior.
Landon Jackson - Edge Rusher
As a recruit, Landon Jackson took over the internet due to his interesting form at the Under Armour Future 50 event. As a freshman, Jackson played sparingly as a special teamer without recording any snaps. After his freshman season, Jackson transferred to Arkansas where he's developed into a starter.
Sai'vion Jones - Edge Rusher
As a true freshman, Sai'vion Jones saw some playing time sparingly but, it set him up for a bigger role in year two. As a sophomore, Sai'von Jones earned a starting role at times setting him and LSU up for a massive 2023. In 2023, Jones became a full-time starter, recording 33 tackles and a pair of sacks. Heading into 2024, the LSU defense will need Jones to take a big jump if they're going to bounce back after a miserable defensive season.
