Justin Jefferson puts foot down on comparisons and then proves his point
Last weekend, Justin Jefferson and the Vikings demolished the New York Giants cruising to victory. Heading into this week there was a ton of talk about the Vikings and their upcoming matchup with the 49ers who impressed in their season opener. The Niners did an excellent job covering Garrett Wilson so reporters compared their startegy to how they'd guard Jefferson.
The difference is, that Justin Jefferson is in a league of his own and while Garrett Wilson is an elite wide receiver he doesn't belong in the same breath as Jefferson. When asked if he was going to watch Wilson's tape to see how he was defended, Jefferson put his foot down.
"Yes and no. Respectfully, I'm not Garrett Wilson. Teams play me totally different."
- Justin Jefferson
Well for all that the 49ers did to slow down Garrett Wilson, there's no slowing Justin Jefferson as he hauled in an unbelievable 97 yard touchdown.
The play put Justin Jefferson over 6,000 receiving yards in his career, becoming the fastest player to achieve the mark in 62 games.
The Vikings currently lead this game 10-0 thanks in part to Jefferson's three catches for 117 yards and a touchdown.
