Kim Mulkey adds three guards to LSU Womens team in the transfer portal
The LSU Women's basketball team has added three guards via the transfer portal Kim Mulkey announces. The Tigers had huge holes to fill on the roster after losing Angel Reese to the WNBA Draft and Hailey Van Lith to the transfer portal. Mulkey has landed Kailyn Gilbert, Mjracle Sheppard, and Shayeann Day-Wilson.
Gilbert is a high caliber scorer whom Mulkey landed from Arizona coming to LSU as a Junior. Gilbert averaged 15.1 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game in 2023-24.
Sheppard spent her Freshman season in Mississippi State averaging just 5.0 points per game with 2.6 rebounds per game. Where Sheppard will make an impact is on the defensive end where she averaged 1.4 steals per game with 3 or more steals in six games.
Day-Wilson joins LSU as a Senior starting her career at Duke before transferring last season to Miami. In 2023, Day-Wilson scored 11.9 points per game with 3.5 assists per game and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Mulkey spoke on the additions saying the following:
"We could not be more excited to add Shayeann, Kailyn, and Mjracle to the LSU family, the three of them will add a combination of experience and depth on the perimeter for us and will bolster our roster to continue at an elite level."

LSU Basketball retooling for a deep postseason run in 2024
The LSU Women's basketball team is now re-tooling its roster for a deep postseason run after a successful off-season. The Tigers have added four transfers in Day-Wilson, Sheppard, Gilbert, and forward Jersey Wolfenbarger. The Tigers will also bring in Freshman Jada Richard the Louisiana State Player of the Year. After a disappointing end to the season, it was clear that the LSU women's roster needed a shift in personnel and so far Mulkey has made this roster a serious contender.
