Kim Mulkey brings back program icon Seimone Augustus as a member of coaching staff
The LSU Women's Basketball team and Kim Mulkey just made a fantastic move by bringing back former player and program icon Seimone Augustus as a member of the coaching staff. Augustus became the first female athlete to ger a statue in her honor as well as joining the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame while she'll soon be inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame.
As a player, Augustus helped transform LSU Women's basketball leading the team to the program's first three final four appearances as the Nation's best player. Augustus has one year of coaching experience in the WNBA and now joins the LSU staff under Kim Mulkey.
Kim Mulkey said the following about the hiring of Augustus:
"It is an exciting day for the LSU Women's Basketball program to bring back Seimone Augustus back to join our staff. As a player at LSU, Seimone helped transform our program as the best player in the nation. She brought LSU to National Prominence. She will be a tremendous member on our staff as someone with great experience who has excelled at every level of the game."

Takeaway coaching scheme's, X's and O's, recruiting ability, and anything else between the lines and this is still an incredible hire. Kim Mulkey is getting a player who performed at the highest levels of the sport coming from Baton Rouge who can speak to the players in a way that will elevate their game. On the recruiting trail, Augustus will be a massive tool for LSU as she can help develop players in the way she learned helping send players to the WNBA.
