The National Football Foundation and The College Football Hall of Fame has released the list of former players and coaches on the ballot this year with a few LSU Tigers on the list. The requirements for the College Football Hall of Fame are steep as players must achieve First-Team All-American status to make the cut. The inductees will be announced in early 2025, however here are LSU Football's two candidates for the Hall of Fame:

Alan Faneca - Offensive Line - 1994-1997

For the LSU Football team, the New Orleans native Faneca became one of the team's best players. In 1997, Faneca was a First team All-American while being nominated for the Outland Trophy foe the first time in school history while winning the Jacobs Blocking Trophy. In his final two seasons, Faneca played a massive role in the LSU Tigers leading the SEC in rushing. If Alan Faneca is entered into the College Football Hall of Fame he'll join a rare group of players to be inducted into the Pro and College Football Hall of Fames.

Nick Saban - Head Coach - 2000-2004

While Nick Saban will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame more so for his contributions at Alabama, his resume from his time at LSU is likely Hall of Fame worthy as well. Nick Saban coached the LSU Tigers for five seasons leaving Baton Rouge with a 48-16 record as head coach. He helped lead the Tigers to two SEC Championships in 2001 and 2003 while winning the 2003 National Championship. The foundation Nick Saban built also helped Les Miles in winning the 2007 National Championship. During his time at LSU, Saban coached notable players in Jamarcus Russell, Corey Webster, Michael Clayton, Joseph Addai, and several other stars.

Both Former LSU Tigers should certainly be inducted

There is really no question as to whether or not Nick Saban will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Faneca on the other hand hasn't had much luck with getting into Hall of Fame's as it took far too long for his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The fact of the matter is that while at LSU Faneca was one of if not the best blocker in the country and he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
