If you're a fan of the USC Football team or the LSU Football team and you hoped to watch the game on Direct TV you were given quite the surprise. Direct TV will not be showing the game as they go through a contract dispute with ABC, Disney, and ESPN. To sever ties on the night of a massive showdown is ridiculous, especially as the networks fight over who gets to profit more off of the viewers.

Direct TV made no official announcement of the move on their twitter which caught fans off guard. ESPN PR did release an official statement placing all of the blame onto Direct TV for the unannounced blackouts.

Barstool Sports jumped in with a classic meme from Succession accurately portraying how fans were probably responding:

If you saw this issue and decided to go to a sports bar to watch the game you still may have had an issue as several fans ran into.

People even jumped in to note how even if you had a different cable provider, all you could watch right up to the game you didn't exactly get a great pregame show.

This issue even drew the anger of the much calmer tennis fans as the US Open is nearing its championship however, fans won't be able to watch that either.

The fall of cable television continues

As the years go on it continues to make more sense to switch to a streaming provider rather than continuing to pay for cable. Tonight, thousands of fans will likely subscribe to a streaming provider and likely fall in love with how easy it is. This is continued bad new for cable networks as tehy continue their rapid decline into obscurity.

The game is available on other cable networks and streaming providers such as YouTube TV, Hulu, Fubo TV, Sling, Dish, ESPN +, and SEC Network +.
