This weekend Paul Skenes made his MLB Debut and while helping the Pirates earn a win he helped some others who are in need. Paul Skenes has made a pledge this season to donate $100 per strikeout to the Gary Sinise Foundation which supports veterans and first responders. The debut meant that Skenes will be donating $700 to the foundation.

Many will remember that Paul Skenes did another similar gesture during the LSU Baseball season last year. Skenes decided to donate money per strikeout to Folds of Honor which helps family members of the military and first responders with getting children scholarships. The news of Skenes donations spread and along with the LSU fanbase, Skenes helped raise $50,000 for Folds of Honor.

The charitable endeavor was furthered this week as Paul Skenes appeared on the Pat McAfee Show this week and spread the word of the charity. After McAfee learned of the cause he decided to match Skenes' pledge while offering quite the challenge. McAfee promised Skenes that if he broke the MLB record of 21 strikeouts in a nine inning game that he would donate $1,000,000 to the Gary Sinise Foundation.

The move by Skenes is incredibly generous and one that deserves plenty of appreciation. Coming from a military background Skenes still shows a ton of appreciation for those who serve and has continued to give back.

Plenty of Strikeouts coming for Paul Skenes

The MLB Debut of Paul Skenes was just the tip of the iceberg as he recorded seven strikeouts in a game he faced a massive challenge. Now that Skenes has his MLB Debut under his belt he should be settled in and will only get better as he continues to gain experience. In his debut his fastball looked deadly if he could continue to throw it at the top of the zone while his "splinker" looked like a deadly wipeout pitch.
