After both LSU Baseball and North Carolina won their games on walk-off home runs they faced off on Saturday afternoon with a trip to the Regional Final going to the winner while the loser would have to beat Wofford to get to the Final. The Tigers sent Luke Holman to the mound fresh off of six no hit innings against Georgia while North Carolina sent Shea Sprague to the mound.

LSU was effective offensively early on getting multiple runners on the first two innings but, they were unable to get the hit to drive any runners in. The second inning ended on one of the worst interference calls that still has everyone scratching their heads.

The thorn in LSU's side all day was North Carolina star Vance Honeycutt as he went 2-4 with two home runs and four RBIs powering the UNC offense.

The LSU Tigers got another good outing out of Luke Holman who pitched 6.2 innings allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out 11 batters.

The Tigers scored a pair in the 7th as Jared Jones and Ethan Frey drew back to back bases loaded walks which at the time made the game 3-2 UNC.

The Vance Honeycutt 7th inning home run and two UNC runs in the bottom of the eighth gave UNC a 6-2 lead. The Tigers had the ninth hitter then the top of the order due up in the ninth inning but, LSU was unable to do any damage.

The second inning interference call changed this game

The awful second-inning interference call that ended the second inning hurt this LSU baseball team the most today. The Tigers would have had runners on the corners with two outs and the top of the order up. At the time, the LSU Baseball team was putting runners on constantly and had Shea Sprague in trouble. The Tigers will now face Wofford tomorrow for the chance to meet North Carolina in the Regional Finals where LSU would have to win twice.
