After winning it's first series of the year the LSU Baseball team has picked up some accolades for performances this weekend. Redshirt Sophomore pitcher Gage Jump who transferred in from UCLA was named the SEC's Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Missouri.

Jump led the Tigers to the first win of the series pitching a seven-inning complete game allowing just three hits and one run while striking out 14 batters while walking just one batter. On the outing, Jump threw 98 pitches 65 of which were strikes while striking out ten of the final thirteen batters he faced. The outing was Jump's best of the year as he improved to 3-1 lowering his ERA to 4.22 on the season.

The LSU baseball team will take on Nicholls on Tuesday night as they look to improve their record to 25-16. The Tigers will then look to win their second weekend series of the year as they travel to take on the Auburn Tigers who are 19-20 on the year and 2-16 in conference play.

The Tigers will desperately need to win this Series as a sweep would put the Tigers right back into play in the SEC West. The Tigers need to go on a run soon as there are just four weekend series left before postseason play begins and they'll have a good chance taking on Auburn and Ole Miss who rank towards the bottom of the West while they'll play a middle of the road Alabama team and Texas A&M who's second in the SEC West.

LSU Baseball: Tigers have a must win Series this weekend

The LSU Baseball team at minimum needs to take two out of three games this weekend against the Auburn Tigers. The Auburn baseball team has just two wins in conference making them the worst team in the SEC. LSU Baseball would certainly prefer playing at home as Auburn is 1-9 on the road while going 13-10 at home. Winning this series starts with pitching as the Tigers staff allowed just three runs in the games they won this weekend.
