The College Basketball season is slowly approaching although it is flying under the radar as football is less than a month away. The LSU Basketball team has been given a ton of low expectations from the media however, there is plenty of reasons to be optimistic. To this point we only had a few Non-Conference games to base our predictions off of however LSU has finally announced its non-conference basketball schedule.

The LSU basketball team will play thirteen non-conference games nine of which will be played in Baton Rouge.

The biggest standouts on the non-conference schedule are LSU's two matchups at the Greenbrier Tipoff as they'll face Pittsburgh and either UCF or Wisconsin. The Tigers will travel to Kansas State which should be an awesome game as Cam Carter takes on his former team. In the ACC/SEC Challenge the Tigers will face Florida State which could be a massive resume game. The final big game will be on the road in Frisco, Texas when LSU takes on SMU who many experts are high on this season.

Matt McMahon and his staff didn't load on massive name brand teams but, this is the smart approach to building out a Non-Conference schedule. LSU Basketball will get to face plenty of mid-majors which has proven to be key when March rolls around as a few of these Mid-Majors could be conference winners. If LSU can handle all of its mid-major matchups they should be in a great place when selection sunday rolls aroumn
