As things currently stand, Matt McMahon and the LSU Basketball program haven’t landed a commitment. This isn’t a concern however as a majority of the programs have yet to land a commitment. This also isn’t a big deal as Matt McMahon continues to get great news from his top targets and is set to host jam packed recruiting weekends all September.

Today, the Tigers get massive news from four-star recruit Kayden “Bugg” Edwards as he named LSU one of his final five schools along with USC, TCU, Oklahoma State, and Colorado.

According to On3’s Industry Recruiting rankings, Edwards is the 63rd best recruit in the country and the 16th ranked shooting guard. Edwards attends the Texas powerhouse Duncanville where LSU Football landed running back Caden Durham.

This is positive news for the LSU basketball team as TCU is the only instate program they’d have to beat out to lane Edwards. On3’s recruiting prediction machine does give TCU the edge with a 25.3% chance to lane him but, this is a wide open race and the Tigers aren’t too far behind with a 14.4% chance.

The Tigers continue to make these finalists cuts for recruits like Edwards, Chris Cenac, King Grace, and others but, the Tigers have to close. Matt McMahon faired we’ll on the recruiting trail last season and the quickest way to get this program back on track is stacking elite classes.

Chris Cenac remains the biggest priority

The Tigers could finish with a great class but, if Matt McMahon misses out on Chris Cenac you have to view this class as a failure. It’s not every year that Louisiana produces a top tier five star like Cenac and all it may take is landing a recruit that prized to flip the narrative around the program.
