The SEC released the 2024 football schedule in mid-December. We know all 12 opponents, dates, and locations of LSU football games for the upcoming season. Let the analysis begin.

College football analyst Barrett Sallee recently ranked the LSU football schedule 14th among the SEC's 16 teams.

""The Tigers get the "Vanderbilt bump" and a showdown with Alabama inside Death Valley. The rivalry game at Florida is somewhat daunting, but the other three road games should -- based on recent history -- be wins for coach Brian Kelly's crew. This is a slate that will likely land LSU in the SEC Championship Game as one of the top two teams in the conference.""

I'm not the biggest fan of Sallee's takes, but I agree with his analysis regarding the LSU schedule. I think that the 2024 slate is highly winnable to Brian Kelly's Tigers.

Conversely, schedules always look better on paper in the preseason. We will better understand how good LSU football and their opponents are once they hit the field in September. Come then, opinions on the strength of the SEC schedules will shift.

Regardless, I have five major takeaways for the upcoming LSU football schedule that will enable fan optimism this offseason.
